About the program
Shadow the Department of Transportation (DOT) Compliance Manager to oversee the regulatory compliance of individual transportation entities in regard to DOT and FMCSA regulations and state and federal law.
What you'll do
The DOT Compliance department conducts mock audits for clients to determine their compliance level. These audits can be factor specific or broad range to cover multiple aspects of DOT and FMCSA compliance. This team also provides guidance to assist with the correction of any non-compliance issues and provides action planning for maintaining compliance moving forward. Additionally, the DOT Compliance team manages several contracts to house and maintain all employee, training, equipment and compliance records. This includes providing weekly reports for expiration of required documents and follow up on compliance activities.

This intern opportunity is in Palmer, Alaska. Intern participants must be able to pass a background check and a drug test, lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, work with a diverse group of individuals, appreciate the benefits of performing work safely, and enjoy the detail-oriented work of compliance. Interns will shadow the DOT Compliance Manager at NIT to oversee the regulatory compliance of individual transportation entities regarding DOT and FMCSA regulations, state and federal law.
