About the program
The Employment Services Technician (EST) 1 performs a variety of assignments directly related to employment, training, and career development. This position is in an on-the-job training environment where the EST I will learn eligibility criteria, programmatic guidelines, case management functions, and system operations of an Alaska Job Center.
What you'll do
The EST I will job shadow and conduct on-the-job training of an EST I position in the following programs/sections of a job center:
- Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG): the primary focus under the JVSG Program is to provide individualized career and training-related services to veterans and eligible persons with significant barriers to employment and to assist employers fill their workforce needs with job-seeking veterans.
- The Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and State Training and Employment Program (STEP): the primary focus under the WIOA and STEP program is to provide employment and training services to overcome barriers to employment through the administration of state and federal grant funding.
- Business Connections: the primary focus of Business Connection is to assist employers with recruitment strategies. Duties may also include providing a variety of services to customers, to include resume writing, interviewing skills, cover letter assistance, job search assistance, labor market research and career exploration.
