Aviation Maintenance Technician - Employment Skills Training
About the program
The Aviation Maintenance Technology SkillBridge program is a nine-week, full-time program designed to train and connect transitioning service members, veterans and eligible military spouses into aviation maintenance and technician careers with reputable aerospace industry partners, such as AAR Corp; Amentum, Boeing, Gulfstream, Hawaiian Airlines, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman. Program attendees must meet eligibility requirements and be willing to relocate to industry partner hiring locations. Participants earn an 18-credit hour Aviation Maintenance Technology Part 65 Certificate from Embry-Riddle and a B-737 NG Familiarization certificate from industry partner AAR. Previous aviation experience is not necessary, but applicants must have a mechanical aptitude. Career Services provides resume writing and career support services. Industry hiring partners support the program through industry partner activities. For service members who meet the experience requirements established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this certificate program supports those pursuing the technical requirements outlined in Part 65.77 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. For service members who do NOT meet the experience requirements established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this program provides them with a foundation in aviation maintenance. It connects them with industry hiring partners who provide paid apprenticeship opportunities and the necessary hands-on experience once they exit military service. - Able to perform basic maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Able to proficiently use FAA-approved data (i.e. IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM).
- Ensure work performed meets established quality standards.

- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Must have a minimum of 1-3 years related aviation/aircraft maintenance or similar experience and/or training.
- May or may not have an A and/or P Certificate/License
- Some general maintenance experience (including relative experience outside of Aviation)
- Must possess and be able to skillfully use the minimum tools required.
- Must have 1 - 3 years of aviation maintenance experience.

Eligibility
Active-Duty:
- Must be within 180 days or less left in the military when to program begins. (Please check with your local SkillBridge advisor for your branch of service requirements.)
- Command approval.
- Motivated to seek employment through this program and willingness to relocate.
- Mechanical aptitude (you do not need to have hands-on aircraft experience to pursue this program).Veterans
- Honorably discharged (must submit DD214)

- Recently separated from one of the U.S. Military branches.Spouses
- Spouse of an active duty service member; must be able to show appropriate documentation (i.e., service member's most recent LES, marriage certificate).

- Motivated to seek employment through this program and willingness to relocate.
