About the program
13 weeks of training to take a candidate with little to no experience in the construction industry and giving that candidate a skillset to become a Horizontal Directional Drilling Operator. Once training is completed if the candidate is meeting or exceeding standards a full-time position will then be offered.
What you'll do
The Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating trenchless underground boring equipment to install utilities (such as fiber optics, power cables, gas, water, and sewer lines) with minimal surface disruption. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting utility construction drawings and bore plans, performing pre- and post-operational equipment inspections, setting up drilling rigs and tracking systems, mixing and monitoring drilling fluids (bentonite/mud systems), guiding the drill head along a pre-determined bore path using walkover tracking equipment, executing pilot bores, reaming holes to size, and pulling back product lines. The operator ensures strict adherence to OSHA safety regulations, environmental compliance, utility locate laws (811/One-Call), and jobsite hazard mitigation.
