About the program
Valkyrie UAS Solutions delivers pharmaceuticals, blood products, and medical supplies via long-range autonomous drone routes to underserved rural healthcare systems. The Director of Aviation Safety will build and own Valkyrie’s aviation safety program from the ground up, setting operational standards across all hubs and leading our Safety Management System (SMS).
What you'll do
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and executing the Safety Management System (SMS) across all four pillars: policy, risk management, assurance, and promotion.
- Leading safety audits, briefings, and corrective-action tracking across hub operations.
- Serving as the primary FAA point of contact for safety events and investigations.
- Managing the voluntary hazard reporting program and turning incident data into actionable training.
- Fostering a proactive safety culture across ground crews, pilots, and management.
Eligibility
Target military occupations
Open to all service branches. Ideal backgrounds include: Flight Safety Officer (FSO), Flight Safety NCO, Aviation Safety Specialist, Safety Officer, Mishap Investigator, or related military aviation safety ratings (e.g., USAF 86P/1S0X1, USN/USMC 8225/8220, USA 15-series Safety/Operations).
Must be eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program with written command authorization. Strong written/verbal communication skills and hands-on mishap/incident investigation experience required. FAA Part 107 or SMS experience preferred.
