Equine Training & Stable Specialist
About the program
Greenland Hills Equestrian is an elite, premier commercial equestrian boarding, instruction, and horse development facility. Operating within an approved IL5 training environment, we are proud to offer an immersive DoD SkillBridge Fellowship designed to empower transitioning military personnel to transfer their operational leadership, logistical coordination, and personnel supervision directly into the rapidly expanding equine and agricultural enterprise sector. This fellowship provides structured, hands-on training that elevates tactical daily execution into holistic stable management, resource optimization, and commercial facility operations. Prior horse-handling experience is not required—our comprehensive program specializes in taking your proven military leadership, discipline, and attention to detail and teaching you specialized equine and stable management disciplines from the ground up.
What you'll do
As the Equine Training and Stable Specialist, you will transition from hands-on tactical task execution to managing facility operations, stable logistics, commercial schedules, and cross-functional teams. The program bridges the gap between active-duty service and commercial enterprise operations. Your performance, technical competencies, and supervisory development are tracked and evaluated objectively across a standardized, 24-milestone weighted curriculum totaling 100%.The curriculum at Greenland Hills Equestrian focuses on mastering daily equine husbandry, stable hygiene, tailored feeding, and handling safety. Leaders guarantee seamless operations by managing weekly labor, feeding, and turnout rosters, while training and supervising working students, stable hands, and volunteers. They enforce strict health and biosecurity protocols, manage quarantine workflows, and maintain detailed veterinary logs.Infrastructure management includes directing the safe operation and maintenance of tractors and arena grooming equipment, auditing perimeter fencing, irrigation, and ventilation systems, and drafting scopes of work for structural repairs. Leaders deconflict facility schedules among trainers, clients, veterinarians, and farriers, while optimizing arena use to maximize revenue.Logistically, personnel forecast and manage inventory buffers for feed, bedding, and pharmaceuticals. They oversee secure equine transport, compliance with travel documentation, and coordinate routine veterinary, dental, and farrier care. Administratively, they process boarding contracts, liability waivers, and emergency directives, while tracking daily operational expenses and assisting with monthly financial reporting. Finally, they vet vendors and negotiate service agreements to protect the bottom line.
