About the program
WestPac Wealth Partners’ DoD SkillBridge Financial Representative Career Development Program is a structured 12-week training opportunity designed to prepare transitioning service members for a career in financial services. Participants receive 480 hours of professional development combining industry education, licensing preparation, mentorship, financial planning technology, business development, and practical application.The program provides exposure to the knowledge, skills, tools, and professional expectations required to transition into a Financial Representative role and progress toward a career as a fully licensed Financial Advisor.
What you'll do
Participants will develop and apply Financial Representative competencies through instructor-led training, self-paced coursework, role-play, case studies, mentorship, advisor observation, and supervised practical activities.Training and duties include financial needs analysis, client discovery and fact-finding, financial planning and risk-management concepts, investment fundamentals, use of financial planning technology and the Living Balance Sheet®, prospecting and target-market development, professional networking and Centers of Influence (COIs), client communication, practice management, and business planning.Participants will also complete applicable licensing and exam preparation, attend manager and mentor coaching sessions, participate in professional-development activities, develop a Market Action Plan (MAP), and demonstrate progressive career readiness throughout the program.
Eligibility
Candidates should have an interest in financial services, financial planning, business development, or a related professional career and demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, accountability, ethical judgment, and willingness to learn.Participants must be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program and receive appropriate command approval prior to participation. Because the career path may require state insurance licensing and FINRA securities registrations, continued employment and advancement may be subject to applicable licensing, examination, background, regulatory, registration, sponsorship, contracting, and company requirements.Successful participants should be comfortable building professional relationships, receiving coaching and feedback, developing new skills, working toward measurable activity and professional-development goals, and operating within a regulated financial-services environment.
