About the RoleLooking to use your technical skills in a stable, office-based environment instead of being constantly out in the field?First Response is seeking a Security Systems Support Technician to join our technical support team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in IT support, networking, telecommunications, or electronic security systems who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues and helping both customers and field technicians succeed.In this position, you’ll support the programming, configuration, and troubleshooting of security systems including access control, video surveillance, and alarm communication systems. You’ll act as a key technical resource between customers, internal teams, and field technicians.Our Security Systems Support Technicians provide technical support for enterprise security solutions, including Video Management Systems (VMS). This role involves troubleshooting video surveillance platforms, assisting with system configuration, supporting users, and ensuring security systems remain reliable and operational. Experience with VMS platforms, cameras, recording servers, video analytics, and network-based security solutions is highly valued.We can train our specific systems and platforms — what we need is someone who already understands networking fundamentals, device connectivity, and technical troubleshooting.About First Response SecurityFirst Response Security is a family-owned Oregon company with over 30 years of service to our community. What you'll do
What You’ll DoProvide remote technical support to customers and field techniciansProgram and troubleshoot security systems including cameras, alarms, and access control platformsDiagnose and resolve issues involving device connectivity and communication failuresSupport installation and commissioning activities by assisting technicians with system setup and programmingTroubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issuesAssist with customer onboarding, system usage questions, and basic trainingEscalate complex technical issues when appropriateDocument support cases, troubleshooting steps, and resolutionsSupport both external customers and internal teams with system issuesOccasionally assist with onsite troubleshooting or training (minimal field work)What We’re Looking ForRequired QualificationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExperience in technical support, help desk, NOC, telecommunications, or similar technical roleWorking knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentalsUnderstanding of IP addressing and network-connected devicesExperience troubleshooting device connectivity and communication issuesExperience with Windows operating systemsStrong communication and customer service skillsAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced environmentValid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordAbility to pass a background check and drug screeningPreferred ExperienceExperience supporting or working with security systems, alarm systems, or video surveillance systemsFamiliarity with platforms such as DMP, Honeywell, Bosch, Lenel, or similarExperience in roles such as:IT Help Desk TechnicianNetwork Support TechnicianNOC TechnicianTelecommunications TechnicianMilitary communications or technical operations rolesFamiliarity with:DNS and DHCPVPNs and remote connectivity toolsBasic network troubleshooting conceptsLinux familiarity
